Voldemort showed up on our doorstep one rainy Halloween — to replace his forebear, a semi-feral bridle cat we called simply Cat — and departed this life sixteen years later, just as spring began to emerge, having in the interim taken over a building on the property as his personal domain, and dispatched more voles, mice, and birds than we cared to count. He was vocal and communicative, made friends with some of our dogs, went on walks, and lived his best life just the way he wanted. He preferred Meow Mix, liked a bowl of milk in the morning, slept on computer equipment exclusively, insisted on catnip in the garden, and specialized, in his later years, in sunbathing. We’ll miss him, and are waiting patiently for the universe to send us his replacement.
A donation was made in Voldemort's memory and the memorial was created on March 8, 2022.
