Sunshine

We rescued Sunshine, who was a feral kitten, in November 2010, when she was about 3 months old. We immediately fell in love, and she totally attached herself to our then 12-1/2 year old cat, Candy. Chuck was her favorite human, but she loved Gilda and Linda (their oldest daughter) too. Unfortunately her feral instincts never left her and she never took to any stranger, nor even to our grandchildren who really wanted to love her. Practically no one ever got to see her because the minute they came in she’d go hide under the bed. Candy crossed over the Rainbow Bridge in May 2014 and Sunshine was very depressed. She started eating too much and getting really fat (our fault that we let her). We brought home a kitten from the Humane Society, Nala, the day after Christmas 2014. Sunshine never took to Nala, who really wanted to be friends, barely tolerated her. It’s always very painful to lose a furry friend but, when they’re really old and have lived a very good life, like our Candy, it’s so much easier to accept. Our Sunshine was only six years old and could have had so many years yet. This death really devastated us, particularly Gilda, and it’ll take a very long time to get over it.
A donation was made in Sunshine's memory and the memorial was created on January 30, 2017.
