Smokey

Smokey was our beloved Miniature Schnauzer who died just shy of his 11th birthday. He faced many medical challenges starting with a liver shunt at age 6 months. He had a couple of surgeries for bladder stones. He had lifelong hyperlipidemia, hypothyroidism later in life and diabetes his last 5 months. He was on insulin, lost his vision and then had painful eye problems. We did our best to keep him as healthy as possible but knew his life brought him no reward.
In spite of all of his problems, he remained a very resilient dog who remained faithful, loyal and dear. It was amazing to see how he learned to find his way around the house once he became blind.
From the time he was a puppy, he enjoyed being held like an infant. He’d gaze up into Dick’s eyes and toward the end, holding him that way was like a special bond.
We invested our hearts in Smokey and reaped the rewards every day. In our hearts you now run free once again.

A donation was made in Smokey's memory and the memorial was created on April 4, 2017.
