Smokey

On Feb. 1, 2021 I lost my best buddy of over 18 years. We found him when we were sledding in the deep snow of the winter of 2003-2004, a little girl had taken him in but was unable to keep him. I tucked him in the hood of my parka and the loud sound of the purring cinched the deal. My fondest memories are when I had a motor home and was traveling throughout the Midwest working on Cell sites. I was able to prop the door for him and he would come and go as he pleased but was always there when I got back to the camp. He had really slowed down in the last year or two and I treasured each day that we had left. Thinking that I had steeled myself to his passing, I was gobsmacked when I broke into tears as I watched him suffer a stroke. I have found a young dead ringer for Smokey and he has filled me again with the antics I remember of of my dear friend.
A donation was made in Smokey's memory and the memorial was created on February 17, 2021.
