Roxy was a loving and sweet, yet crazy and feisty personality as an Australian Shepherd. She came to us in the California Central Valley at 10 weeks old and we instantly fell in love. She was a giant, fluffy puppy who discovered her love for any toy that squeaked very early on. She loved blowing bubbles in her water dish and terrorizing my parents’ Border Collie, as puppies do. She began flyball training at one year old. We weren’t sure if she loved the sport itself, but she loved the treats she got and she loved “talking smack” on the flyball course. This was enough to keep her playing for 9 years, running in 65 tournaments and searching for dropped treats the entire time. She earned 6 titles in North American Flyball Association, and her Top Flight Expert in U-FLI worth 20,000 points. She performed at many half time shows for the Sacramento Kings, Fresno State Bulldogs, and more. She enjoyed the occasional Course a’Lure and open lure competitions, earning gold and silver medals. Dry land was not her only expertise, as she was a water dog at heart. Lakes and pools were her favorites, no puddles though because getting only her paws wet was gross. On a whim, we entered her in Splash Dogs and she took 1st in her division with a 10′-9″ jump. She would never bring back the toy we threw in the water for her though, the excitement of the jump itself was all she needed. Roxy enjoyed her retirement in Portland, OR where she enjoyed the unusually snowy winters and mild summers. She loved hiking Mt. Hood, eating snow, day trips to the Oregon coast, and smelling the roses at the International Rose Test Gardens (or just searching for gophers). Roxy and I had a bond like no other, enjoying each other’s company and help throughout daily life. The only thing that we couldn’t beat was her cancer. Roxy had so many friends and family who love and miss her dearly. We love you sweet girl, and I can’t wait to see you again at the Rainbow Bridge. You’ll have a piece of my heart forever.

A donation was made in Roxy's memory and the memorial was created on July 18, 2017.
