Riley

He made two mountain summits with me and we had more planned.
We hiked, backpacked and he followed alongside horseback riding for thousands of miles of trails.
He was always at my side.
His seat in the truck was always shotgun.
I will miss him for the rest of my life. He was exceptional in every way.
We had no warning. When I got home from work I noticed an unusual lack of energy and he was not able to jump in the truck. I took him to the Emergency Veterinary Hospital for evaluation immediately, where it was found during a quick ultrasound that there was internal bleeding and a mass on his spleen. He passed while in surgery for a ruptured tumor on his spleen and it was also discovered that there were three more on his liver; pathology returned that the tumors were Hemangiosarcoma.
Riley was 4 years, 2 months and 19 days old.
A donation was made in Riley's memory and the memorial was created on June 15, 2019.
