Nikola

I’ve started this memorial for Nikola several times, but I failed at each attempt and didn’t know why. The conclusion I’ve come to is that this is the final goodbye to my precious friend. She was the most wonderful and loyal girl from day one. I didn’t know that Boxers instinctively guard, but I learned quickly. Nikola followed me wherever I went and while I was outside, she sat with her back to me to watch for any oncoming danger. At the same time she was always accepting of company and good with strangers. I also didn’t know that boxers have a chance of getting heart disease, but she did. She was always a puppy at heart and played with her favorite toy, ball, until she no longer had the energy. After 11 years my best friend and companion was telling me it was her time. Now I see her often in my dreams and she’s running and full of life again. I hope that’s the way it is and that I continue to see her in my sleep. I’ll always love my Nikola.
