Midnight

Some would say that animals are just pets and others would say they’re a part of their family. I considered Midnight a part of my family as well as a best friend. He was my childhood companion. In the third grade I was sitting in my driveway eating a poptart and a stray cat walked up to me so I decided I would try to feed it. He took a piece of my poptart from me and that is how I lured him home. I guess you could say we basically adopted each other that day. From that day forward we were best friends. He would cuddle with me and sit on my lap for hours on end and he would be sitting in the driveway waiting for me when I got home from school. Now, as a senior in high school I had to make the hardest decision to put him down on September 15th 2017 due to the fact that he hadn’t been doing so well. It was a difficult day but knowing he is no longer suffering gives some comfort. Each day is still a healing process but I know it will get better with time. I will never forget him and he will always be in my heart.
