Frankie

Frankie was a Christmas present to me from my daughter. She presented him to me in my 2nd grade classroom in a Christmas stocking. I have always had a dog, but never a dachshund, so we had an adjustment period. When he finally accepted potty training, we started getting along, and that’s when I fell in love with him.
He was very familial, immediately knowing who his family was. He would remember our California grandchildren as family even if he hadn’t seen them for as long as 3 or 4 months. If they brought in a friend, however, Frankie knew immediately that they were not members of his family and would become very protective. We had to watch him around strangers we wanted to keep as friends.
Frankie loved to break away off leash and embark on a squirrel safari on our 6 acres. There were times I worried that he might not make it home because of the coyotes in our area; he always did, sometimes with a squirrel in his mouth or another creature he could overcome. We tried to keep him confined in our dog run, but he escaped a few times when the gate was accidently left open. He loved it!
We miss him so much and are daily made aware of the void his passing has left in our lives. He was such a cantankerous character; yet so loving! RIP dear Frankie.
A donation was made in Frankie's memory and the memorial was created on September 27, 2021.
