Sweet Derby-D: A Hero’s Journey
March 19, 2007-May 27, 2019
Derby-D was a brave trooper to the end! Boo, we love you SO! We’ll miss your wet kisses and your humorous antics. You came into our life in 2007 anxious and fearful yet we genuinely loved you from the get-go. We could discern that you had the grit and perseverance to face your fears head-on. You had older companions, Mocha and Bingo, who welcomed you into their world and accepted you as a part of the family. Later in life you were diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease. It took a real toll on you physically but despite all that you DID NOT surrender. Instead you accepted your lot with grace and you became evermore receptive to the love from those around you. You shed your fears and misgivings about this world and learned to implicitly trust. It was a remarkable transformation to behold and you became a true teacher to us about this journey called life. We are forever indebted to you and only wish you could have stayed with us longer. We cherish tyour indomitable spirit and remind ourselves that afflictions and adversities may be challenging and limit us; but they do not define us. Loving you and being loved by you has made us better human beings.
Loving you always,
Terrell and Patrick
To the Powell Veterinary- Westmoreland staff. Thank you all for your compassion and abiding care for Derby. He was never thrilled to go to the vet but he quickly learned he had nothing to fear from you. Your gentleness and care for him plus your generous treat policy sealed the deal. You were more than OK in his book!
A donation was made in Derby's memory and the memorial was created on May 30, 2019.
