Baxter

On July 27, 2017, we said Good Bye to our first “baby,” Baxter. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family about 3 months before his 8th birthday. He joined our family when he was only one month old, shortly after we made our move to Oregon. He lived in 3 different houses with us and he helped make every new place feel like home. He made us look forward to getting home after visits away to see family on the east coast. He took trips to the Oregon coast and Bend, OR. I put pictures of him in my lectures. Pictures and stories of him were a fixture in Morgan’s classroom. As he got older, he suffered from many health problems that limited his mobility and required significant nursing care. Through this experience of caring for him, we developed a stronger connection with him. Although our daughter probably won’t remember him, Morgan and I were so happy that they had the chance to meet and get to know each other. If the measure of one’s life is the amount of joy one brings to the lives of others, Baxter led one amazing life. We miss him everyday, but are forever grateful for the time we had together.
A donation was made in Baxter's memory and the memorial was created on September 6, 2017.
